We decided to schedule the kids's first dental checkup this month. They brush fairly regularly, usually once before bed but sometimes once first thing in the morning. The local pediatric dentist came highly recommended so we went for it. Sure enough, the staff was great and welcomed the kids. After the first cleaning, the dentist came in and introduced himself to Shane. He offered for Shane to go ahead and check the kids out (he is unable to check the kids at his own office because they are not equipped). So the kids were lucky enough to have their own daddy do the exam!! Everything looked good.
All about Addie
Loves video games - Addie has become very interested in playing things like the Wii, or games on our phone. We are trying to allow occasional play (maybe once a week) without giving in too often. Shane and I both don't want the kids to turn into electronic junkies and we figure we can at least stall them from becoming addicted to them too early.
Sickie - We've posted about this before but it seems to have reared it's ugly head again. Addie goes through phases where she will be puking/pooping in the middle of the night for one or two nights and then she will be fine. We've talked to her pediatrician and it seems to be something that we think she will eventually grow out of. Basically, Addie isn't pooping when she needs to and instead will put it off as long as possible. It gets to the point where it upsets her stomach which leads her to throw up in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning. I feel awful for her when she's going through it but hoping she grows out of it soon.
First Dental checkup - Addie did great and was a very brave girl through the whole process. It was nice to have her go first because she kept Coopers nerves at bay.
All about Cooper
Potty training - Towards the beginning of the month, Cooper woke up from sleeping all night with a dry diaper so I put him on the toilet first thing. He peed almost immediately. I put a diaper back on him afterward and just kept asking if he needed to pee. He didn't really seem to understand what I was asking but I continued to put him back on the potty several times. He didn't pee any of the other times and was still going in his diaper. The next morning, he again had a dry diaper and again peed right away on the toilet in the morning. I decided to put him in underwear during the day and diapers at night. Within the week, he seemed almost completely potty trained during the day!!!We were shocked!! He wasn't telling us when he needed to go but every time we took him to the bathroom, he would go and his underwear would be dry every time. He had less than a handful of daytime/nighttime accidents and really seemed excited about it. So far he has only peed sitting down but we will eventually work towards standing up.
Mario - We have come to the conclusion that Cooper talks like Mario (from super mario bros). It's the only way we can describe it... He will say "I uh wantuh gouh outuh siduh". He will put an "uh" on the end of everything and we can't help but laugh because it sounds like he's talking with an Italian accent.
First dental checkup - Cooper was pretty nervous. He continually looked at whatever the staff had in their hands and really had a hard time relaxing. We didn't see many tears but he said on multiple occasions that he was "done". Luckily, Addie was great about reassuring him that everything was going to be okay and he stuck through the exam.

All about Aribelle
First upper tooth - on 1/4 we found that her first upper tooth was poking through.
Rash on face - We noticed a rash starting on Aribelle's cheeks. I'm wondering if it's from her teething. The rash doesn't seem to be bothering her much right now but will be keeping an eye on it.
1-year photo shoot - We did her photo shoot this month so we could have pictures for her invites. The whole shoot turned out GREAT!! I wasn't sure how things would go since both Addie and Cooper weren't too sure about digging into their cakes for their photo shoots at this age. Since the photographer was already there, we took advantage and got Addie and Cooper in on a few photos. LOVED how everything turned out.
New words - on 1/18 Aribelle said "dada" while sitting on the couch with Shane. On 1/28 Aribelle said "Nana" while playing with Nana. It's really exciting to see her saying new things. Much like Cooper and Addie, she says "mama" more often when I'm leaving a room or when she is tired/sad, but I'm just happy to hear her say it. :)
