51 Week Update - Happy Easter

51 Week Photo

Addison's first Easter was a sweet and memorable one.  We woke up Sunday morning to an egg hunt.  Addie crawled directly to the first egg she saw and shook it.  When she made her way to the next egg, she did everything in her power to hold on to the first one while crawling.  She lost interest pretty quick in the hunt though, so daddy lured her to the basket.  After studying the contents for a few minutes, she finally dug in.  We played for a little while and were able to work up a pretty big appetite so we decided to go out for brunch.  When we got home, we lounged and watched movies together.  It was perfect! :)

Milestones:

Pulling Up - On Wednesday, Addie crawled over to the ball pit in our toy room and pulled herself up to standing position.  Ever since, she has been pulling herself up to EVERYTHING.  Only a matter of time before this little one is walking all over the place.

Sharing - Addison loves to share with mommy and daddy.  At the table, she will try to feed us with her spoon or pick up food and try to put it in our mouths.  She also likes to put her pacifier in our mouths when we're playing.  It's so sweet and of course we are soaking it up now because I'm sure there will be a time that she has no interest in sharing! :)

Talking - Lately, Addie has been trying to say "bud-bud" (for our dog Buddie).  She only says it when mommy or daddy prompt her to, but this is a pretty big milestone for us!

Pulling off Socks - I have a feeling that all babies/kids go through this and it's probably a phase that lasts a while.  It seems like every time we put socks on her, Addison does everything in her power to try to remove them.  Some of her socks are really difficult to get off too, so she will just stretch out the toes as much as possible and then get frustrated.

The stuffed bunny was a hit.

50 Week Update - Crinkle face

Week 50 Photo

Milestones:

Crinkle Face - I think we have brought this one up before, but she has started doing it again and frequently.  She will crinkle her nose, squint one eye, and give very exaggerated breaths out of her nose.  WAAAY CUTE! :)

Straw - For the first time this week, Addie drank out of a straw.  While at Uncle Dillon's house, Addie drank from a sippy-cup straw.  Im not sure why it's so exciting to me, but I was thrilled when Dillon told me.

Milk - It was a goal of ours to keep Addie on breast milk for the first year.  Recently, we have been slowly weaning Addison off of breast milk and onto Formula since we are reaching the one-year mark.  She has been doing great with the transition!  Because of the success, I have decided to go ahead and slowly decrease pumping (breast milk).  So far, so good but I've heard that it can be very painful (physically) for mommy to stop expressing.  Not looking forward to that part :(

Changing Time - Wether it's diaper changing or outfit changing, Addison will fight every second.  Sometimes we can give her a toy or make faces to get cooperation, but most of the time she just wants us to leave her alone! ha ha

49 Week Update - Staying Grounded

Week 49 Picture

This week Mommy and Addie took a roadtrip to Chicago, Illinois to visit "Nana" (Kristin's mom).  Along for the ride was Kristin's niece Avryl.  Nana was having surgery and we thought it would be good to be there for her.  I love watching my mom with Addie.  She's so great with her and Addie just adores her Nana!  At one point, Nana gave Addison & AV a bath and we were able to get some really funn videos of them playing in the water.  It was such a good time!

Milestones:

Staying Grounded - Addie seems strongly dislike any motion that "gets" her belly.  Over the weekend, we visited my mom who happens to live on the 12th floor of an apartment.  We took the elevator to get to her place and Addison nearly flipped her lid!!  I've never seen her freak out the way she did.  Her ams flew back as though she was falling and she began to scream & cry.  I felt horrible for her.  This happened each time we took the elevator and she even began to cry BEFORE we would get on the elevator several times. On the drive home I noticed that every time we hit a big hill that would "get her belly", she would give the same reaction as she did in the elevator.  Poor kid!!

Indian Call - Addison started making noises by patting her palm to her open mouth.  We used to do this to her using our fingers when she was much younger, but now she's figured out how to do it on her own.  VERY cute!

Off the belly - Every week, Addie seems to become more interested in getting off her belly.  Over the last several months she wanted crawl everywhere and play with her toys while still laying on her stomach.  In the last week though it seems her focus has changed to wanting to climb or sit and play.  When she wants to play with a toy, she puts herself on her butt from her belly.  When she sees something out of reach up high, she does everything she can to get to it.  Looks like she might have an interest in walking in the future?

48 Week Update - 11 Months

Week 48 Picture:

On Saturday, we went to our first Cardinals game of the season.  What an AWESOME day... despite the Cards losing the game :(  The weather was beautiful and we had great seats.  Addie made friends with the people sitting around us too.  By the middle of the game, the excitement must've gotten to her though because Addison passed out in mommy's lap :)

Milestones:

Clapping - Addie has clapped before, but it really wasn't ever in sync with anything.  This week, when we would say "YAY" we would clap.  Then she started mocking us, she would smile really big and clap too.  She gets very excited now when we say "YAY"!

Pulling Up - Addie can pull herself up when something is really low to the ground (a book case shelf, short stool, etc.).  She can also pull herself up holding onto mommy or daddy's hands.  This week though, she has been trying to pull herself up to the couch.  This is a pretty big milestone for us because it's the first real sign that she has interest in standing/walking.  Before, mommy or daddy would stand her next to the couch and let her hold on to the edge but it wouldn't take long before she wanted to get down and crawl.

Swingin' around - Wednesday, we met uncle Dillon and cousin Avryl at the park.  This wasn't her first time at a park, but it was her first time on any of the equipment.  Addison LOVED the swings.  I was able to get a few pictures (below).

Eating - Our eating schedule has gone back and fourth since we introduced solids to Addison.  Luckily though, it seems like lately she is trying more and fighting less as the table.

Sleeping - Addison's sleeping habits have been much like her eating habits... unpredictable and sometimes frustrating.  Over the last week however, we are seeing a great improvement in both!  We usually don't have much of a problem getting her to nap, but at night she doesn't always want to stay asleep.  This week, several nights she slept through the night without any problems.  It was GREAT! :)

Drinking - No, Addie hasn't tapped into mommy and daddy's liquor cabinet! :)   We introduced a water bottle to see if she was able to drink and she was.  We also tried letting her drink out of a cup and.... SUCCESS!  I suppose lots of kids are able to drink out of water bottles and cups, but it wasn't something we ever really tried so it's very new to us.

Bath Time - At one point this week, we had a very messy lunch so mommy decided to just spray Addie down in the Kitchen sink.  Who would've thought that Addison would love the sink so much!?!?  It was so cute to see her play with the water stream.  Because it was such a huge hit, we did bath time a few more times that way this week and were able to snap some pictures.
