Monthly Update - April 2013 Happy Easter!

Profile photos for the month of April

Easter was lots of fun for us.  The Easter Baskets were laid out in the living room for the kids to find.  Cooper didn't seem to understand what was going on but didn't seem to care once he saw the toys and candy.  Addison was beyond thrilled.  She couldn't wait to tap into the basket.... and then into Cooper's!! ha ha  After a while of playing with all of their new things, we got busy getting the house ready for our friends and family to come to our egg hunt.
The hunt was lots of fun and we had even more kids than last year.  Although Cooper had a cold, I know he had fun shaking the filled eggs and listening to them make jingle noises or rattle noises with the candy inside.  Addison was in her element.  I don't know if she remembered doing it last year but she knew exactly what to do and ran after each egg that she saw.  It was a blast! :)

Magic House:  We took Addie to the Magic House in St. Louis and met up with Robin (and kids).  We had such a blast that Addie asked almost every day after that if we could go back.  It was fun watching her go to all of the rooms and explore.  Can't wait to go back. :)

All about Addie:

Injury:  Addie injured her ankle/foot towards the middle of the month and we took her to the doctor on the 19th because she was limping.  The doc took X-rays but didn't see anything indicating a break and the ankle really wasn't swollen.  She sent us home with instructions to take ibuprofen/tylenol and come back if she doesn't improve.  On the 21st, Addie was decorating cupcakes with her cousins and fell off a very short stool.  She grabbed the same foot/ankle and wouldn't let go of it whaling and screaming.  It took us nearly 1/2 hour to calm her down.  Again though, no bruising or swelling.  Shane and I decided to see how she was the next day.  She refused to walk on it after that incident.  At first I thought it was behavioral but after 3 days, she never skipped a beat and continued to stay off that foot.  It was then that we decided she needed to go back to the doc.  Her doc referred us to Columbia children's hospital for an MRI.  Unfortunately they had to sedate poor Addie to get her to sit through the whole thing due to a failed attempt on the 26th.  On the 29th they successfully had an MRI and the results.  The MRI tech saw FOUR fractures after glancing at the results.  Addie was immediately put in a walking cast and sent home with instructions to come back and see a specialist the following week.  At first she wouldn't even walk on the boot but after about three days, she got used to it and was able to put more pressure on it.  Within a week, she was walking regularly and seemed to be quite used to it.

All about Cooper:

New words:
"Addie" : He's still trying to master her name but it's actually recognizable now.  I love when he calls her or when he repeats her name after daddy or mommy say it.

Hats Off:  Cooper loves hats but doesn't seem to want them on for more than a minute or so.  He LOVES to pull them off and try to place them back on his head.  It has become a game for him now and when he sees a hat, he will immediately try to put it on... and then take it off!!

First hair cut:  He was surprisingly cooperative for his first hair cut on the 17th.  It probably helped that his stylist was really pretty and friendly.

Walking or "cruising":  Cooper does really well with walking along the couch or ottoman.  He doesn't last long because there is usually a toy he wants to go after but he can at least get himself up and down.

Solids:  Cooper eats just about anything we give him now.  His new favorite though is corn on the cob. It's the funniest thing in the world to watch him eat it.  He grabs both handles that we poke into the ends of the cob and he goes to town.  We laugh every time!! :)
