20 Week Update - 5 Months

5 Month Photo

Milestones:

Talking:  Ok, it's still baby talk but it's getting cuter and cuter by the day.  Sometimes it's hard to tell if it's a happy squeal or an angry one, but it's hilarious to hear her and she gets louder every time!  The blog website makes it difficult for me to get a video on here for some reason, but I'm still going to try to get a video of her "talking".

Sitting Up:  We blogged about her sitting up last week but wanted to update that she seems to be getting really close to sitting up on her own.  For now though she's still a "supported sitter"

Standing:  I'm wondering which one she'll do first on her own, standing or sitting up.  She seems so close with both of them.  When she stands, she barely holds on to mommy or daddy.  I've tried to put her next to the couch so she can hold onto it, but she's not interested.  Addie seems to like having the security of mommy or daddy there.

Tickle Bunny:  Addison has always had tickle spots on her feet, underarms, etc.  but she seems to be extra ticklish lately.  Uncle Dillon always gets her to laugh a lot when he's tickling her belly and this past week she was cracking up!  I didn't have the camera ready, but that laugh will replay in my head FOREVER, it was sooo cute!!

19 Week Update - Family Reunion

19 Week Picture

Addison's 4 month well-baby was on the 14th... even though technically she is at 4 1/2 months.  She is 16.3lbs now which is at the 97th percentile.  Her head Circumference was in the 90th percentile as well.  The nurse measured her length as 24 inches.  That measurement seemed off to me since two months ago she was 23.5 and I figured she had grown more than a half inch.  This same nurse measured Addie at her first checkup a few days after she was born and was off on the length then too, so Shane and I decided to check the numbers ourself.  Sure enough, we found that Addison is at 25 inches.  Of course Addie had to get shots at this checkup, but she did really well.

Milestones:

First Family Reunion:  Sunday the 12th was Addison's first family reunion.  The Sutter reunion (my mom's side of the family) is held every year in Bloomington, IL at Miller Park.  Prizes are given away for youngest/oldest, furthest traveled, etc.  Addison won youngest female in attendance and we won furthest traveled!

Discovering limbs:  Addie loves to watch her hands, but recently she seems to have discovered her feet.  It's so funny because she will be sitting up and raise one of her legs.  She will then notice her foot and toes wiggling and won't take her eyes off!  It's really cute to watch.

Discovering Own Reflection:  I'm not sure if she knows it's actually her, but she LOVES to see her reflection.  Shane and I have held her in front of the mirror before and she smiles back but it's usually at our reflection.  I decided to put her in front of one of our floor length mirrors in the bathroom to see what she does and it was hysterical to see her interact with her twin.  I wasn't able to get a video but I included LOTS of pictures below.

Sitting up:  Any time we lay Addie down, especially when she's at an incline, she tries to sit up.  She can pretty much sit up on her own for a few seconds as long as we position her.  We always have to be nearby though because any second.....TIM-BER!

Standing:  For a while, it seemed like Addison had NO interest in using her legs for anything but kicking.  Recently though, she seems to be trying to stand.  Mainly when we have her in our laps and have her facing us, she will straighten her legs out and stand up with assistance.

18 week update - 4 Months

18 Week picture

I know this post is late, but Addie and I were in Illinois all week long and didn't have a chance to update the blog. This was the longest that Addison has been away from daddy (7 days). We left on Sunday night (the 5th) and our first stop was Chicago where we spent the majority of our time. My mom was in the process of moving into her new place, so of course I wanted to be there to help. Addison had a great time with her Nana.  Friday morning we left for Pontiac, Illinois where we visited my Grandpa Raube and his wife Shelby.  This was their first time meeting Addison and they were thrilled!  Next, we made our way to Normal, Illinois where we visited my Grandma Raube.  This wasn't Grandma Raube's first time seeing Addie, but she was just as excited as she was the first time! :)  We took lots of pictures (see below).

Milestones:

No Poo:  Last week we posted about starting Addie on rice cereal.  It took her four days to poop after giving it to her!  Then when she finally did, it was a doozie!  It took her another four days before she had another bowel movement.  We figured that it may take her a while to get used to, but never thought it would have this impact!  We've since stopped giving it to her and may try again in a few weeks.

Time away from home:  This week was the longest that Addison has spent away from home and away from daddy.  We left on Sunday the 5th and came home on Sunday the 12th.  Daddy definitely had a rough time with the distance, but made sure to call every day to hear his little girl "coo" at him :)  While we were gone, daddy occupied his time by cleaning the garage, playing with the dogs, catching up on sleep, and hanging out with uncle Dillon.

17 Week Update - Holding Bottle

17 Week Picture

Over the weekend, Shane's family came to visit us at the lake.  It was really nice for Addie to get a chance to visit with, and interact with everyone.  We didn't take nearly as many pictures as we wanted to, but will be visiting again with everyone towards the end of September and will take more then.  Addison seemed to love watching all of these "new" faces around her.  I'm sure she didn't mind the attention either! :)

Milestones

Holding Bottle:  Addie started holding her bottle this week.  We have to position her hands on either side of the bottle but once we do, she is able to feed herself.

Solid Food:  We decided to try a little bit of rice cereal mixed with breast milk in Addison's bottle around the middle of the week.  She drank the bottle without any issues and almost finished the whole thing!  I also tried to give her a little bit on a spoon, but she had no interest whatsoever.  We've decided that we are going to keep giving her the cereal in the bottle once a day over the next week or so to slowly get her used to solids.

Diaper Surprise:  Since we have introduced rice cereal, daddy and I have also experience the beginning of stinky diapers.  Because breast milk tends to digest easily, diapers are generally pretty mild... at least they have been for us.  Now that "solids" are in her diet, it's a whole new world of diapering!

New Sounds:  Every day Addison talks more than the day before.  Shane and I could sit and listen to her for hours, it's so cute!  I think she likes hearing herself too because she goes on and on even when no one is "talking" back to her.  Within the last week or so, she has reached a new decibel too.  It's very high pitched somewhere between a scream and a giggle... ADORABLE!
