Weekly Update - Addie's Molars

Addie's Weekly Photo:

Addie's Weekly Milestones Week of September 23, 2011 (72 Weeks):

Teeth:  We aren't exactly sure how many teeth she has now because she is annoyed by people messing with her mouth, LOL.  Every now and then we get a glimpse of her MANY teeth.  This week we saw our first shot of a new molar that has come in on her right hand side.  I would guess that Addie has around 8 or 9 teeth right now.  Only two front teeth on the top and then the rest of the teeth are on the bottom.

More Walking:  Of course she's not 100% without assistance in walking, but every day she walks more without holding on to things.  Addison's favorite aid in cruising around now is definitely the wall.

Foods:  Addison surprises us every day with her food habits, likes and dislikes.  Textures still play a huge role in what she will and won't eat.  Things like scrambled eggs, mushrooms, and anything "slimy" usually get pushed away.  The funny thing is, Addison will eat canned vegetables over just about ANYTHING else we put in front of her!  It seems like her appetite is different daily as well.  This week, Addie ate an entire cheeseburger from McDonalds AND several fries for lunch but then the next day she didn't eat much for any of her meals.  I can't say Addie is overly picky though.  It seems like she will try just about anything at least once.... for now :)

Weekly Update - WALKING!!

Addie's weekly photo:

Addie's weekly milestones week of September 16, 2011 (71 Weeks):

Walking - Every week, we try to help encourage Addie to walk without holding on to things.  We're not pushing things too hard because we don't want to discourage her or annoy her with it.  This week we made HUGE progress though!  Daddy and mommy were sitting several feet apart on the floor and would see if Addie would walk to each of us.  She took 3-4 steps and then would fall into our arms.  It was a really exciting moment for all of us!!

Beautiful Baby - I'm sure every parent would say the same thing about their child that I'm about to say about Addie, but it feels like we get compliments on her constantly!  It seems like every place we go, people go out of their way to stop us and tell us how beautiful she is.  Of course we think she's adorable too, it just makes us smile to hear it from so many other people!  Since birth, I've been encouraged by MANY people to enter Addie into modeling or put her photo into a contest.  I've really never gotten into that sort of thing but caved this week.  I entered her into CuteKid.com (sponsored by Regis and Kelly).  It's a long shot, I'm sure because I read that there are over 4,000 entries per month but at least we can say we finally entered her into a contest!! :)

Saying "mmmm" when taking a bite - I couldn't remember if we had ever posted about this before but it just gets funnier!  When Addison first takes a bite of something she will go "mmMMMMmmm" (with a high pitch tone in the middle).  It cracks us up every time!!

Social butterfly -  When we are out in public, Addison will wave to people wether they are looking at her or not.  She gets a kick out of seeing how many people she can wave at.  She doesn't necessarily want other people to engage in conversation with her, but doesn't seem to mind as much if they wave.  It's really funny because if she's in a shy mood, she will wait until she can't see a person anymore and THEN wave to them!  Too funny!

Books - Addison LOVES story time right before bed/nap.  We started a pretty set routine recently and she has caught on.  Daddy will say "do you want to go read your books" and Addison will repeat back to him "boo....booo".  Addie will help turn the pages and point at pictures.  When we get her up from her naps, she will point over to her book shelf and say "boo" hoping that maybe we'll read them when she gets up too!! Cute! :)

Baby #2 Update:

Sore Boobs!!  I had this when I was pregnant with Addison but it seemed to start much earlier the first time.  Basically in the last week, I think my boobs have tripled in size and they are sore as heck!

Showing:  It seems early, but I'm starting to show a bit of a baby bump now.  It seems crazy to me to be showing so soon, but I've heard that it's normal to show earlier in your second pregnancy.

More pictures from the week:

A few of the books we read to her before nap/bed.
Her favorites are between "8 Silly monkeys" and "Peeka Who"

Pretending to read on her own :)

Yes, she's that gifted that she can read upside down!

She LOVES to crawl inside of boxes and bins

A nice ending to this week's posting! :)

Weekly Update - 16 Months

Addie's Weekly Photo

Addie's Weekly Milestones Week of September 9, 2011 (70 Weeks):

Cup-Holder Lover:  Addie has cup holders in her high chair and in her car seat.  She seems to have caught on to the several uses for them from day one.  At the table, when she wants to pick up food she will put her cup down right in the holder and then continue eating.  In the car seat, she is really good about getting the cup into the holder.  The funny thing is that if she has her paci in her mouth, she will take the paci out and place it in the other cup holder in the carseat while she drinks, then she'll put the cup back and put the paci back to her mouth.  I don't know why, but Shane and I get the biggest kick out of it!

Clapping:  Addison loves to clap.  She will clap when she stands by herself, she'll clap when we clap, or when she thinks she's done something great.  If she hears clapping on TV, she will clap too.  The funniest thing happened at the baseball game over the weekend.  Mommy was letting Addie walk along the seats before anyone showed up to sit in them.  She would walk up and down the seats and just look out at the field and clap.  Then during the entire game, she would clap for no reason, pause, and then clap some more.  The fans sitting around us thought she was the cutest thing!

Nose, Nose, Nose:  Addison has a habit of sticking her fingers up her nose.  She won't just gently put her fingers in either, it's like she's trying to reach her brain!  The doc said it's pretty normal and to either ignore it or distract her with something to hold so she has to take her fingers out.  She has had a pretty nasty cold this week though and has figured out that now when she pulls her finger out of her nose, she can pull snot out too!  It's sooo gross!!  I've tried distracting her, but it only seems to make her want to keep doing it!  In an effort to lure some of the nastiness out of her nose in a more civilized way, we've been teaching her how to blow her nose into a tissue.  She's actually doing really well with it!  I'm surprised at her age that she has figured out what we're saying when we say "blow" and we hold the tissue up to her nose.  Hopefully her nasty habit goes away sometime soon, it makes mommy queasy!!

Daddy's Little girl:  Every day, we try to meet daddy at the front door (or out front of the house) when he comes home from work.  I would have to say that this is Addison's favorite time of day.  I've gotten it on video but even the video doesn't do justice.  Once Addison sees daddy's car coming down the street, she loses it!  It's "DA-DA....DA-DAAAAA.... DAAA-DAAAAAA"!!!!  She gets the biggest smile on her face and starts giggling, screaming, wiggling and carrying on.  It's a very heart warming moment!  I will try to get the video on here, but I don't always have success so it may have to be something I post on Facebook or something.

Baby Number 2 Update:

Flutters?:  Of course there's no way to tell, but I'm pretty sure I felt the first (of many) flutters this week. I know for sure I didn't feel it this early when I was pregnant with Addie, but knowing more what it feels like the second time around helps me know what feelings are what.  The feeling was very faint and pretty far down in the pelvis area.  I moved around a bit wondering if maybe the flutters would stop, and they paused for a second and then kicked back in again.  One of the most exciting parts of pregnancy is definitely feeling the baby kick, so I'm excited to bring on this new chapter in pregnancy! :)

Weight:  I haven't been on the scale since my last doctor's appointment but decided to check the numbers this week.  I am DOWN 3 pounds.  Our whole household has been sick with a pretty bad cold for the last two weeks though, so I'm guessing it might have something to do with that.

Weekly Update - First Haircut

Addie's Weekly Photo

This week, some friends from St. Louis area came to visit us at the lake.  Although Addie has been a bit uneasy about the boat (mainly because of her pure hatred for her lifejacket), we decided to venture out on Saturday.  The annual Shootout was taking place and we thought it would be fun to check it out.  There were so many boats out that it was difficult to see all of the races taking place, so we just cruised the lake.  It was an AWESOME day to be out and Addison did so great all day long.  I'm thinking that she's starting to get used to the lake life :)

Addie's Weekly Milestones Week of September 2, 2011 (69 Weeks):

First Haircut:  I had debated wether or not to take Addison in and get her hair cut or if I should just do it myself.  After seeing some friends botch their childrens' hair, and being paranoid about using scissors too close to her head, it was decided to let the professionals take care of it!! :)  Our pediatrician recommended that we take her to "All Dolled Up", downtown Camdenton.  Addie did relatively well considering she does not like to be messed with.  She DID cry (as you can see from the pictures below), but she didn't try to fight the lady off and she held really still!  Now we can see Addie's BEAUTIFUL eyes again!! :)

First cold of the season:  It seems too early for a cold already, but Addison has her first cold of the season :(  So far, it's just a lot of congestion and NO sleep.  Hopefully the cold doesn't last long

Fingers Crossed:  We're not sure where Addie picked this up, but she has started crossing her index and middle finger.  She will do it randomly while crawling or while watching TV.  If we cross our fingers and show her, she will giggle and pull our fingers apart.  So funny!

More Words:  Uncle Dillon said that while Addie was hanging at his house for a bit over the weekend she would try to repeat just about everything he said.  I can definitely say that she's not scared to talk :)
A few new words she seems to be perfecting are "on", "open", and "close".  Of course open is more like "O" and closed is something like "CO", but we can usually figure out what she's trying to say.

Baby Number 2 Update:
12-Week prenatal Checkup:  This appointment was short and sweet.  It was urine sample, blood pressure, and hand-held doppler (fetal heartbeat).  The heart rate was approx. 157 beats per minute and sounding healthy.  Everything looks good according to doc.
Weight:  On Friday, mommy officially caved and got a pair of maternity jeans.  I probably could've held out another month or so, but my normal jeans were getting a bit uncomfortable.  I'm wearing maternity MUCH earlier than I was with Addie, so I know FOR SURE that I have gained much more weight than the first time around.
