Addie's Weekly Milestones Week of September 9, 2011 (70 Weeks):
Cup-Holder Lover: Addie has cup holders in her high chair and in her car seat. She seems to have caught on to the several uses for them from day one. At the table, when she wants to pick up food she will put her cup down right in the holder and then continue eating. In the car seat, she is really good about getting the cup into the holder. The funny thing is that if she has her paci in her mouth, she will take the paci out and place it in the other cup holder in the carseat while she drinks, then she'll put the cup back and put the paci back to her mouth. I don't know why, but Shane and I get the biggest kick out of it!
Clapping: Addison loves to clap. She will clap when she stands by herself, she'll clap when we clap, or when she thinks she's done something great. If she hears clapping on TV, she will clap too. The funniest thing happened at the baseball game over the weekend. Mommy was letting Addie walk along the seats before anyone showed up to sit in them. She would walk up and down the seats and just look out at the field and clap. Then during the entire game, she would clap for no reason, pause, and then clap some more. The fans sitting around us thought she was the cutest thing!
Nose, Nose, Nose: Addison has a habit of sticking her fingers up her nose. She won't just gently put her fingers in either, it's like she's trying to reach her brain! The doc said it's pretty normal and to either ignore it or distract her with something to hold so she has to take her fingers out. She has had a pretty nasty cold this week though and has figured out that now when she pulls her finger out of her nose, she can pull snot out too! It's sooo gross!! I've tried distracting her, but it only seems to make her want to keep doing it! In an effort to lure some of the nastiness out of her nose in a more civilized way, we've been teaching her how to blow her nose into a tissue. She's actually doing really well with it! I'm surprised at her age that she has figured out what we're saying when we say "blow" and we hold the tissue up to her nose. Hopefully her nasty habit goes away sometime soon, it makes mommy queasy!!
Daddy's Little girl: Every day, we try to meet daddy at the front door (or out front of the house) when he comes home from work. I would have to say that this is Addison's favorite time of day. I've gotten it on video but even the video doesn't do justice. Once Addison sees daddy's car coming down the street, she loses it! It's "DA-DA....DA-DAAAAA.... DAAA-DAAAAAA"!!!! She gets the biggest smile on her face and starts giggling, screaming, wiggling and carrying on. It's a very heart warming moment! I will try to get the video on here, but I don't always have success so it may have to be something I post on Facebook or something.
Baby Number 2 Update:
Flutters?: Of course there's no way to tell, but I'm pretty sure I felt the first (of many) flutters this week. I know for sure I didn't feel it this early when I was pregnant with Addie, but knowing more what it feels like the second time around helps me know what feelings are what. The feeling was very faint and pretty far down in the pelvis area. I moved around a bit wondering if maybe the flutters would stop, and they paused for a second and then kicked back in again. One of the most exciting parts of pregnancy is definitely feeling the baby kick, so I'm excited to bring on this new chapter in pregnancy! :)
Weight: I haven't been on the scale since my last doctor's appointment but decided to check the numbers this week. I am DOWN 3 pounds. Our whole household has been sick with a pretty bad cold for the last two weeks though, so I'm guessing it might have something to do with that.
