Milestones
No No - Now that Addison is exploring more, she comes into contact with things that are off limits (cords, decorations, etc.). We have done the best we can with baby-proofing the house, but of course there are things that are unavoidable obstacles for Addie. Cords seem to be her biggest eye-candy lately. Every time she goes to touch one, we say "no-no Addie". At first she would stop what she was doing and just look at us like "what?". Now, she puckers her lips and cries :...( It's soooo pathetic, but we've been sticking to it and not giving in to her cute-ness!
Exploring - In addition to cords, Addison is fascinated with looking under rugs lately. She will lift up the edge or corner and look under it. I laugh every time she does it!
Her other favorite thing to do on her belly is to crawl to the front door. She loves to look outside. The second she hears me open the door to let the dogs in or out, she will bee-line to try and make her big escape. It will be great this spring/summer when we can actually go outside more!
Toys - This week, daddy has been spoiling Addie rotten! :) He bought her a small stuffed monkey while at the store earlier in the week. It was a HIT with Addison. She crawled around on the floor playing with it having a great time. Her reaction made daddy melt! So of course the next day when he saw a similar stuffed toy that she might like... he bought it too!
Our toy room has been a work in progress. We have been trying to stock it little by little not only for Addison, but for nieces/nephews, cousins, etc. Recently, we bought several bags of plastic "ball-pit" balls. There wasn't a huge plan for them other than to scatter them in the room for kids to play with. After more thought though, we decided to buy a blow-up baby pool so we could make our own ball pit. The baby pool came in this week and we tried out the new "ball pit" for the first time with Addie (see pics below).
Uncovered - Addie does NOT like to be covered. Even if you try to put a blanket over her legs when she's sitting up, she will do everything in her power to get it off. I'm guessing it has to do with how easily she gets overheated. If she's sleeping and it's cool in the room, I will usually put a light blanket over her from the shoulders down. If I go in to check on her later on, the blanket is off!
