Recently, some of daddy's family decided to move from Arkansas to Missouri. We've been thrilled to welcome them to our neck of the woods and in perfect time to be around when we welcome Conner into the world. The kids have been loving the extra attention that they're getting and of course daddy loves having his family close. It will be nice to have two sets of grandparents to spoil the kids now :)
All about Addie
Meeting the teacher - A little over a week before school started, we received a call from Addie's teacher introducing herself and inviting us to come to the classroom to meet. Addie couldn't have been more excited to finally meet her!! We met up on the 10th and you would've thought it was the first day of school. Addie loved the classroom and enjoyed playing with some toys while we talked with her teacher.
"Meet the teacher night" - The school had a meet and greet on the 14th and Addie was just as excited about that night as she was about the first time meeting her teacher. There were a few activities planned for each family coming into the room and it really engaged Addie.
First day of School!! - Addie was stoked about her first day. We stayed the night at nanas the night before so that mommy and daddy could take her to school together the first day. It was exciting for all of us but especially Addie. We got to school so early that there really weren't many students there though and we weren't sure where Addie was supposed to wait. Luckily, we saw the principal and he pointed us to the area where Addie could wait and there happened to be a few girls for her to talk to while she waited. I kept looking back as we walked away from her but she was completely uninterested in us any longer.... she was happy :)
All about Cooper
Starting Preschool at home - I decided to do a little "homeschooling" with Cooper and see where his skills are with words, colors, shapes, etc. I have a preschool board that I made when we first took Addie out of Preschool and it seems to be working nicely with him. We go over the days of the week, month, etc. and weather, and then we have a letter of the week. I've kept it pretty simple for now so that I don't overwhelm him. Every day after our preschool board, he gets 20 min of ABCmouse.com. The first few times he was on it he wasn't too sure of himself but now he knows his way around for sure. I can definitely see an improvement in his comprehension and recognition of many letters/numbers. Hopefully I can keep up on the schooling with him even after Conner comes.
Tractor love - We bought a tractor for him last year (toy ride-on) and although he thought it was neat, he really hadn't ridden it much in the last year. All of the sudden in the last few weeks, he has been obsessed with riding it. Every time we go outside, he asks if we can get it out. He will put rocks, flowers, and other random items in the trailer and pull them around the yard. He thinks he's pretty hot stuff when he's riding it too ;)
Where's Addie - Cooper has to remind himself quite often that Addie is in school now. He's done great with her being gone and doesn't get upset over it but I can definitely tell that he misses her. Watching him play alone now or trying to replace Addie by playing with Aribelle is bittersweet for me. I love seeing the new interaction between Cooper and Aribelle but I feel bad for him when he misses Addie.
All about Aribelle
Looks away - Whenever Aribelle hears us say "NO" in a stern voice, she will look away. Sometimes in addition to looking away, she will cover her eyes or face until she knows you're not looking at her anymore (see picture below). It's tough not to laugh when she does it because it's cracks me up every time!!
Walking more - Although she's walking more, she still has not abandoned crawling. It seemed like Addie and Cooper immediately dropped the crawling once they picked up walking but I could be remembering wrong. She likes having something nearby to rely on, like furniture or people.
Clingy - Lately she has been wanting more attention than usual. She's always been a bit more clingy than Coop and Addie ever were but it's gotten more typical for her to cry when we leave a room or to follow us EVERYWHERE.
All about baby #4 (Conner)
Glucose test - Luckily I passed my glucose test with this pregnancy like I did with Aribelle. I was still a bit nervous though because there have been a few times where I would eat really "bad" foods and then feel "different" afterward like I would when I was pregnant with Cooper. I've tried paying attention to the foods I've eaten but really haven't been as "good" with my eating habits like I was with Aribelle. This has been a very busy pregnancy so cooking was not something that I was very diligent about every day.
