Monthly Update - May 2013 Happy Birthday Addie

All about Addie

Foot - Addie is doing much better on her "boot" cast.  I really wasn't sure if she would ever get used to the thing and thought she was going to be crawling for the next 6 weeks, but after about 3 or 4 days she finally put pressure on it.  After about 5 or 6 days, she was walking pretty regularly.  I think she still had a bit of pain but we alternated Tylenol and Motrin and both seemed to help.
On the 7th, we had a follow up appointment with a specialist in Columbia for another X-ray.  Although Addie wasn't thrilled with another "giant camera", she did relatively well and they were able to get a few pics.  The doc advised us to keep the cast on for about 6 weeks and "take it easy".... Yeah... easier said than done with a 3-year old!! ha ha

Happy Birthday Addie!  On the 5th, we had a big bash at Chuck E. Cheese's in Springfield.  We had a great turnout with all of our friends and family.  Addison had a smile from ear to ear the entire day.  On Tuesday (her actual birthday), we headed to the doctor for a follow up on her foot.  After her appointment, I felt awful for putting her through yet another X-ray and caved when she asked to go back to Chuck E. Cheese.  We were one of only 4 customers in the whole resturant!  It was great because Addie and one other little girl had the place to themselves!  Spoiled? YES... Worth it? ABSOLUTELY! ;)  That night, we ate cupcakes with Daddy, Cooper and Nana.  It was a great birthday :)

All about Cooper

Vocab -
"Thank you"- sounds more like "dee-dee" and can vary from time to time.
"HI Addie" - sounds more like "AHHHH-Ah-Eeeee".  When she comes into the room he gets very excited!

Crawling on knees - Cooper has started switching from crawling on his belly to his knees.  He is one FAST crawler!

Walking - Not yet, but he does experiment with pulling himself up on furniture more.  He "cruises" by holding on to the couch as he walks along the furniture.

Pretend Sneezing - If we sneeze or even pretend sneeze, Cooper will mock us.

Monthly Update - June 2013 BIG news!!!

BIG NEWS!!! The Handley Family is excited to announce that we will be expecting baby number 3 in February!!  It started off that I was "late" and a bit nauseous.  After taking a few pregnancy tests it was confirmed.  A VERY dark line on the pee stick!  Daddy was thrilled and so was Addie.  Cooper had no idea what we were talking about but clapped anyway :)

Live-in Nanny and friend:  For half the month of June and into the first half of July, Shane's niece Lexi came and stayed with us.  She was there just to visit but happens to come in handy as a great playmate for the kids and a HUGE help to mommy!  The biggest help seemed to come when mommy's nausea was in full bloom and Lexi was there to keep the kids occupied while mom tried to conquer symptoms.

All about Addie:

Foot - Around the middle of the month, we were finally able to take Addie's walking boot off.  At first, Addie seemed unsure of her steps but quickly realized how much she was enjoying her new freedom!

First movie theater experience - We went to see Monster's University in the theater.  Addison was in her element.  I think her favorite part was having the big bucket of popcorn at her disposal!  She lasted through the whole movie with the exception of being a little restless towards the end (with about 5 min left of the movie).

All about Cooper

First movie theater experience - Cooper fell asleep during the credits and slept through about half of the movie.  When he woke up, he started crying but after getting his paci back in his mouth he began to watch the movie.  He lasted the rest of the show!  An overall great experience!

Fake Crying - We have begun to see new tantrums evolve with Cooper lately.  This week, he has mastered "fake crying".  He will squint his eyes and let out very faint cries when he doesn't get his way.  He will carry on like this for several minutes until he sees we aren't paying any attention or unless one of us starts laughing.

"Huh?" - If you say his name, 9 times out of 10 Cooper will respond with "huh?".  It makes us giggle every time he does it.
