28 Week Update - Addie's Waitress Hand

28 Week Picture

Addison had her 6 month well-baby appointment this week and with a NEW doctor (Dr Calipjo).  I realize she is a ways past her 6 month birthday, but her appointment have always been a little off.  Normally, Addie does really well at the doctor.  This time...not so much!  Addison had been in a good mood all morning long.  We walked through the office doors at the doctor and she immediately became angry!  It was like she knew what was about to happen.  Once the shots were done though, she calmed down to a bottle and the soothing sound of mommy's voice :)
Addison is now 18.8 lbs and 25.5 in long which keeps her steady in the 90th percentile on size.  We love every teeny tiny inch and pound of her!

Milestones:

Words:  So Addie's ever-growing "babble" vocabulary now includes "dadadadada"!!!!  It's sooo cute when she does it because she opens her mouth as big as she can and says it really loud like she's trying to get your attention.  She will get on tangents when she's chewing on her toys or hands and start babbling "dadada-yayayaya-dadadada".  I wouldn't go as far to say that she understands what she's saying, but it's still really cute!!

Hand out:  There's this really funny thing that Addison has done for a while but it really never caught my attention until we started counting how many times she does it per day.  Wether she is sitting or standing, she will put one hand out to the side and hold it there for several seconds.  She does it so much that the other day, she did it 23 times in ONE afternoon!  I have even looked back at some of the pictures we have posted on the blog and you can see a few pictures where she is doing it.  I will try to get a few more pictures and put them on here too.

Happily Awake:  Addison has never been a grouch when she first wakes up.  In fact, if you smile at her when she first opens her eyes, you are guaranteed to get a sweet little smile right back from her!  Just to get proof of this sweet little angel waking up, I grabbed my camera yesterday and snapped pictures as she opened her eyes up (see pictures below).  TOO CUTE!! :)

27 Week Update - Self Feeding

27 Week Picture

Things are still hectic as ever around the house lately.  I feel like we haven't been able to spend as much
"fun time" with Addie because of our continued deck renovation.  The new structure is up though, and the outdoor kitchen is framed.  Within the next week or so, the stucco should be started and most likely by the end of this month, we will be finished!  Addison has been a dream baby during everything.  While we were doing demolition, she still napped as usual and wasn't fussy about the noise.  Whenever we needed to get work done, Addie was always content playing on the floor or watching us from her jumparoo (just inside the screen door).  The greatest thing is that Addison will be able to make the most use out of the new space once she's walking.

Milestones:

Jumparoo:  Addison has loved her jumparoo since day one (pictures below).  Within the last week though, she has finally started reaching for toys on it.  Before, she would just keep her hands tucked in front of her while she jumped.  It's exciting to see her explore all of the objects and her reactions when they make noises!

Feeding:  Daddy was able to get Addison to feed herself this week!!  He was giving her (baby safe) cheese puffs and putting them in her hand and she actually fed herself a few.  She seems to like those solids better than the pureed baby food.  I still try every day to give her a little bit of food on a spoon, but it continues to be a struggle to keep her from gagging the second it hits her tongue.

6 Month Update...Happy Half-Birthday Addison!!!

6 Month Picture:

Addison was born on May 7th which makes her 6 months old this week!  Time really does fly when you're having fun.
Over the weekend, we spent some time in Arkansas with Shane's family.  The first night, we made the mistake of not putting Addie to bed at her normal time....BIG mistake!!  We experienced a mood we had never seen before!  Not only were we not able to get her to sleep right away, but she was hysterical.  I've seen her fight sleep before but nothing like this.  Even her crying was louder than we had ever heard before.  It's safe to say that we will avoid keeping her up past her bedtime in the future.

All About Addie and Milestones:

- What a happy baby!!!  When we first wake her up, or she wakes up on her own, we immediately get a smile out of her.  Even when she's at her angriest, we are almost always able to get her to smile.  Nearly every person that has come into contact with Addison has mentioned to us as well that she is the happiest baby they have ever been around!  Addie is always smiling or laughing!

- If you stand her up, she will straighten herself up, hold her arms out a bit from her body and "bobble" her head from side to side looking around.  It's just so cute how she keeps her head and arms positioned and it always makes us laugh!

- She loves to look around at her surroundings, but loves even more to look outside.  Addie could be in a horrible mood (which is rare) and if you take her outside, she's immediately happy!

-  Her legs seem to be moving constantly.  She loves to kick and those legs can keep her entertained for hours!

-  She has always kept a mind of her own when it comes to food.  She has been on breast milk since day one and has always decided when and how much she ate.  Even when a feeding schedule was attempted, there was no cooperation on Addison's part so we aborted the mission!  The great thing about not forcing the schedule is that she remains a very happy baby :)

-  Her sleepy quirks are the cutest!  One that she has done since birth is if you put her on your chest, she will lift her head and then plop back down several times until she finally passes out.  Another cute one is that she will roll her head left to right over and over while fighting sleep.  Perhaps the cutest quirk would have to be the noises she makes when she's tired and trying to avoid crashing.  Between the humming and the grunting, its just adorable watching her fall asleep!

26 Week Update - 6 Months

26 Week Picture:

This week was Halloween.  This year we celebrated more for our own enjoyment than Addison's since she really can't understand what's going on, but at least it was a warm up for what's to come in future years.  I bought some mini plastic pumpkin pails at the store as part of her costume.  I only wanted one, but the store didn't sell them individually so I bought a small pack of them.  Instead of letting the extra's go to waste, I put the rest of the pumpkins on Addison's highchair tray and let her play a while.  It was super cute watching her knock them all around and she was getting a huge kick out of it.

Milestones:

First Halloween:  This year, Addie was a "Trick-or-Treater in Training" for Halloween.  We just took some odds and ends and threw a little something together.  She wore a witches hat that read "trick-or-treater in training", a onesie and bib that read "I'm new at this", butterfly wings, a fairy wand, halloween socks, and a fluffy fairy skirt (see pictures below).  Saturday night the three of us went to a party at a friend's house and then Sunday night we took her trick-or-treating.  We only ended up going to one neighborhood house, but it was really special because Addison had been their first trick-or-treater in three years!  Of course Addie wasn't able to eat her candy, but her first treat was two fun-size Snickers bars.  The cutest thing ever was that Addison held her little pumpkin pail the from the moment we left the house until we came back from our neighbor's house!  It was too cute!

Eating Solids:  We made popcorn for Kristin's niece and nephew one night.  Addie kept licking her lips watching them eat so we decided to let her try a little taste.  Mommy made sure that the piece we gave her did not have any seeds.  Addie LOVED it!!

Puppy Love:  Addison seems to love our dogs Annie and Buddy.  When they play-fight, Addie laughs hysterically!!  This week, daddy was holding Addison in his lap while the Buddy sat up against them.  Addison kept trying to reach for Bud's ear.  Buddy loved the attention for sure because he leaned into her even more.

New noise:  There is a new noise that Addie has started making.  The best way to describe it is like a grunting.  She does it wether she's mad or happy and the tone doesn't change for either one.  Shane said it reminds him of the little boy in Forest Gump when he's grunting on the front porch.  It is really funny when she does it.
